Bingham Basketball Pep Bands

BHS has TWO complete basketball bands within the department of instrumental music: the BHS Blue Band and the BHS White Band. This is to increase the participation among ALL band members, and to improve our size and public impression at these events. The bands play at all Region, Home games during the regular season. It goes without saying that everyone's participation in department activities makes these opportunities more enjoyable for music students and public alike. The following addresses the format for the basketball pep band season. 1. Both Blue and White Bands will be equal in size (approx. 65 members each), instrumentation and ability, and made up of ALL wind instrumentalists from BHS music groups. Players will be assigned to a band based on the instrumentation needs of each ensemble, not ability or friendships. 2. ALL band students will be assigned to one of the pep bands and will be expected to perform 6 assigned games. These games are considered department performances and will be graded as such. Roll will be taken at each game, and will be graded as a performance. Students are welcome and encouraged to play any of the other games if so desired, but only six games are required. Any 9th graders who have participated in the BHS Marching Band are welcome to attend any games & participate. Games are equally distributed for girls/guys games and days of the week. 3. If you have a conflict with one of your assigned games, you may find a sub from the other pep band for that performance, but you will need to make up the conflict by playing at one of the sub's assigned games. ALL MUSIC STUDENTS MUST COMPLETE A MINIMUM OF 6 GAMES FOR THE SEASON. 4. Each member will be given a music packet that must be returned at the end of the season or they will be fined. It will contain the Fight Song, Star Spangled Banner, and other pep band music to be played at the games. The music will be the same for each band so members can substitute for each other or play in both bands voluntarily. Rehearsals will be during class time the first week of January and intermittent if needed after that. 5. Dress for the game is blue band shirt, jeans and tennis shoes. If you do not own a band shirt, you can buy one for $17 or wear a similar blue BHS shirt or sweatshirt. 6. Call times are 6:15 pm for all 7:00 pm games
