. . . So you're thinking about being a Chaperone Some of the great experiences involved with participation in the BHS music department involve our traveling tours. Students not only perform in fantastic locations and experience world-class clinics and competitions, but also get to see the world as a touring musician. The experiences are ones that last a lifetime! When we take your children on tour, safety is our number one concern. We are required to bring along, on any travel experience, at least one adult chaperone for every 10 students we take on the road. With our spring tour, that is around 20 chaperones! With that in mind, we want to encourage you to consider being a BHS Music Tour Chaperone! Being a chaperone not only allows you to be an integral part of your child's educational experience (whether they like it or not!), but it also gives parents a chance to see first hand the great educational and social experiences offered to your BHS student musician every year! Being a chaperone involves helping with loading and unloading equipment, check-in procedures at airports and hotels, room checks at night, being available to assist the directors when necessary, and helping students have the best possible experience by being a presence at all of their tour stops, musical performances, and attractions. It is also a lot of fun as you travel and see the sights and experience great musical highlights with your student, or someone else's! Chaperones have to pay a little extra for their tour to cover the cost of getting their own separate bed, but our tours consistently achieve the best "bang for your buck" in that we see and do the most for the lowest cost possible. So, if you have wondered about being a chaperone or have been one before, we hope you'll consider being one this year and having a hand in making BHS music tours one of the best and safest in the state! We'll see you on the road! Mr. Graber
