The Marching Band is perhaps the most visual element of the band program. The Marching Band at Bingham High School is a modern, "corps-style" band. The band begins in mid summer to prepare for local parades. A calendar will be available with all rehearsal and performance dates. During the fall marching season, marching band is held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3 - 6 pm. A few Friday evening and Saturday morning rehearsals can also be expected. The Marching Band will play at all home football games, and will perform a pre game and half time show. 8th graders from the feeder middle schools may participate in the summer marching band, but are not eligible for enrollment in the fall marching band. Middle School students who participate in the Marching Band at BHS must make their commitment to their respective Middle School program their top priority.
The Color Guard (extra-curricular / Grades 9 - 12) is an extension of the Marching Band program, and exists to provide students with an opportunity to further develop their skills in the areas of dance, movement, and equipment work (flag, rifle, saber, etc.). This group will compete in local, regional, & national circuit competitions in the winter months after completing the Fall marching season with the marching band. This competitive arena will motivate students to achieve new levels of excellence in performance. Color Guard students are highly encouraged to pursue at least one full year of formal dance training.
The Winter Drumline (extra-curricular Grades 9 - 12) is an extension of the Marching Band Program, and exists to provide percussion students with an opportunity to further develop rudimental percussion skills. This group will compete in local & regional circuit competitions in the winter months after completing the Fall marching season with the marching band. The competitive arena will motivate students to achieve new levels of excellence in performance. The Drumline will also perform at school assemblies, basketball games and pep rallies. Enrollment in the Concert Percussion Ensemble is a pre-requisite for membership in Indoor Drumline. Non-Percussionist band students may audition on an individual basis if interested and needed.
