Bingham Performing Arts Assoc. (BPAA)

PRESIDENT -

Must be a Senior and a member of Marching Band & Wind Symphony/Perc. ensemble . Prior leadership experience may be required. A "Band GPA" of at least 3.8 and an exceptional Band participation record will be considered upon application. Those interested must get an application approved with the Director. A final election (and a primary if more than 3 candidates) will then be held with all Band members allowed 1 vote

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Be an exemplary example of professionalism, class and discipline.

Help conduct all Band Council meetings at the Director's request

Assist Director in all Band responsibilities as needed

Private meeting with Director up to once a week to discuss business

Delegate appropriate responsibilities to Band Council members, providing any necessary guidance and support

Use the BPSA President as a valuable resource for planning & organizing.

Coordinate Jr. High recruitment/ Freshman Open House booth

Coordinate the Band Banquet

Summer Band/ Marching Band/ Pep Band participation

Responsible for"Good Luck" cards at Region II Marching Festival, senior spotlight at band banquet (pics.)

 

VICE-PRESIDENT OF EVENTS

JOB DESCRIPTION:

-- Attend all Band Council meetings

•  Publicity for all Band performances: flyers, Minervision, billboard, announcements, etc.

•  Bulletin board schedule: summer, beginning of year, fall concert, candlelight, valentines, tour, spring concert, end of year.

-- Decorations for Band Concerts

-- Work with Director on making necessary phone communications

-- Event schedules and calenders for white board

-- Organization of occasional Band Socials

-- Publicity releases for Middle School Band Newsletters if needed

-- Use the BPSA parent over Events as a resource for planning & organizing

-- Support all Band Council members in their respective jobs

 

VICE PRESIDENT of RECORDS & FINANCE -

Because if its delicate nature, this position is appointed by the Director. Considerations for appointment may include Band GPA, organizational skills, past Band participation, mathematics skills, Database/ Spread sheet skills, and seniority.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

-- Record the minutes at all Band Council meetings and keep on file

-- Generate a scrapbook of the current Band year including photographs of rehearsals and events, newspaper clippings, programs & flyers, etc.

-- Generate a video of current year rehearsals & events to be shown at the Banquet

-- Generate directories for each performing organization

-- Keep files of signed Disclosure/ Liability Waiver/ Fundraising Permission forms

-- Take daily roll call for Marching/Pep Bands

-- Use the BPSA parent over Records as a resource for planning & organizing

-- Support all Band Council members in their respective jobs

-- Attend all Band Council meetings

-- Maintain a Database/Spread Sheet on all members in regards to the payments of Marching Band fees, Music Participation fees, trip payments, uniform fees, & fundraising

-- Collect, record, & file student reciepts regarding the payments above

-- Fill out and distribute Student Fine notifications at the request of Director

-- Use the BPSA parent over Finance as a resource for planning & organizing

-- Support all Band Council members in their respective jobs

 

VICE PRESIDENT of LIBRARY -

Because of its nature, this position is appointed by the Director. Must be able to register for a full-year Student Aid position with the Director during his prep period. Considerations for appointment may include Band GPA, organizational skills, past Band participation, and seniority.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

-- Attend all Band Council meetings

-- Maintain and build the organization of the Band Library

-- Check out/ check in & part inventory of all current Band music or folders

-- Creating files for and stamping recently aquired music

-- Keeping the Library room clean and free from debris and clutter

-- Learn computer skills necessary to make job efficient

-- Assist Director in all pertinent prep period tasks

-- Support all Band Council members in their respective jobs

 

VICE PRESIDENT of UNIFORM -

Because of its nature, this position is appointed by the Director. Considerations for appointment may include Band GPA, organizational skills, past Band participation, training under the previous Vice President of Uniform, and seniority.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

-- Attend all Band Council meetings

-- Cleaning, repair, and maintainance of the Marching Band uniform inventory

-- Sizing and tailoring of uniforms to fit members

-- Formal check out/ check in of uniforms to individual members

-- Educating members about proper uniform etiquette

-- Select and train an assistant who will become V.P. the next year

-- Keeping the Uniform room clean, organized, & free of debris and clutter

-- Keeping a written account for the Director of uniform violations for every uniform performance, whether Marching Band, Pep Band, or any concert group

-- Use the BPSA parent over Uniform as a resource for planning & organizing

-- Support all Band Council members in their respective jobs

 

DRUM MAJOR -

There shall be 2 or 3 Drum Majors, depending on the size & needs of the group. 1 (or 2) Junior(s) will be selected by audition for this position. The position is possibly a 2 year position in which the Junior Drum Major(s) may be retained as Senior Drum Major(s) with experience and successful past record of leadership. Junior and Senior Drum Majors are considered equal in authority. Within the Band Council Drum Majors are considered Vice Presidents.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

-- Attend all Band Council meetings

•  Register for and attend the Drum Major camp at own expense

•  Second year Drum Major goes on band tab

-- Direct and conduct all Marching Band performances

-- Be prepared every rehearsal to teach, clean, and refine drill or music under the

Director's supervision

-- Frequently attend a rehearsal planning meeting with the Director

-- Apply field lining when necessary

--Setup and take down yard markers (if needed), ladders,, podium & banner, water & cups, white board (if needed) Long Ranger at every rehearsal and performance. On game nights equipment should be at the field no later than 30 minutes prior to step-off to the stadium.

- Organize banner carriers and water support for parade performances

-- Maintain the banner and Drum Major podium in a sturdy, attractive condition

-- Organize stand cleanup after every Football game

-- Educate members about "stand etiquette"

-- Keep a written account of "stand etiquette" violations each game for the Director

-- Support all Band Council members in their respective jobs

REPRESENTATIVES, ELECTED -

Representatives will be elected for the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Symphony, Jazz Ensemble, and Percussion Ensemble groups in September. A "Band GPA" of at least 3.8 and an exceptional Band participation record will be considered upon application. Those interested must get an application approved with the Director. A final election (and a primary if more than 3 candidates) will then be held in each respective group with members allowed 1 vote.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

-- Attend all Band Council meetings, representing the concerns of your group

-- Conduct official business in your group when the President or Vice President responsible cannot attend that class period

-- Take daily roll call for your group

-- Run rehearsal for your group when the Director is temporarily detained

-- Educate group members in "break down" etiquette and follow through daily

-- Initiate any necessary phone chains for the group at the Director's request

-- Support all Band Council members in their respective jobs
